Roku • Entertainment Assistant • 2017
Roku commands an outsize market share in the entertainment streaming market. Their Entertainment Assistant is a leap forward in their software-based voice capabilities. The goal was to bypass the remote and access audio and video content using voice alone. I worked on the Voice UX for the initial offering, announced for Fall 2018.

Roku is a platform hosting multiple content types, content providers, and hardware devices. The entertainment assistant had to work across the wide range of permutations that this ecosystem supported. I began by mapping out use cases across multiple domains, and then translated them to entities, intents and responses. Along the way I introduced new kinds of design tools and testing protocols. See the featured project, Say "Entertainment", for details.
